Michael Breeze, Principal
As a Virtual Chief Financial Officer with over 20 years of progressive experience in management, business planning, financial analysis, financial services, capital planning, technology, and real estate, Mike has the unique experience to quickly understand and help businesses achieve profitable growth. When people work with Mike, they receive the benefit of his extensive experience and feel reassured by his constant availability and sincere support.
Prior to founding New Direction Capital, Mike was a successful entrepreneur. He developed and sold several businesses, created joint ventures, and orchestrated many product launches for clients. He has worked in the software, tax, medical, retail, telecom, pharmaceutical and real estate industries, in addition to the professional services businesses he currently supports. It is this breadth of knowledge that makes Mike distinctly qualified to oversee all aspects of a business’ financial and operational strategy.
Mike enjoys serving the community and making a difference. Mike is currently the President of the Temple University Alumni Association and a Temple University Trustee. He has been an active participant on Temple University’s Alumni Board of Directors since 2001, serving as President of the Fox School of Business Alumni Association from 2011-2013.
Mike lives in Media, PA with his wife Lauren, their daughter Chloe. He enjoys sailing, trapshooting, running, working out, and golfing.
He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Economics and Operations Research from Temple University and a Masters of Business Administration in Finance from LaSalle University.
Mary Beth McAvoy, CPA, Managing CFO
Mary Beth has over 20 years of experience in handling all aspects of accounting and financial management for multi entity organizations. Her strengths include financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, internal control analysis, system conversions, contract negotiations and management, 401k plan compliance and administration, and management consulting.
Mary Beth has a Bachelor of Arts from Hartwick College in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and she is an active Certified Public Accountant. She lives in Media Pennsylvania with her husband Kyle, and sons Ryan, Christopher and Liam. She enjoys skiing, reading, and baking.
William Warrin, CFO
With over 20 years’ experience, Bill Warrin works for the owners of private companies managing all aspects of finance, HR and IT. Bill has in-depth knowledge of all internal financial functions including controllership, budgeting, strategic planning, month-end close, financial statement reporting, financial/business/operations analysis, systems development and audit. He has worked in the retail, e-commerce, direct response, catalog, franchising, services and manufacturing industries.
In his experience, Bill has led management buyouts, M&A, turnarounds and value management project teams, developing financial models to identify key financial value driver metrics to increase shareholder value. Some career highlights include financial oversight of a $1.2B division of a managed services business with over 30,000 employees, 750 contracts in 45 states for Fortune 100 companies and government agencies; the reorganization of a company’s administrative functions to support a 3-year 23% compounded growth; and drove a weight loss company’s 25% compounded growth rate by growing it into an 850 location, $500 million business in six years supported by franchise and corporate owned centers in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and Costa Rica.
He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration from Bryant University and is also a Certified Internal Auditor. Bill lives in Delaware County, PA with his wife Cathy, and daughters Caroline and Cristina. He enjoys playing golf.
Ken Tomlinson, CFO
Ken is a strategic CFO, with experience that spans corporate financial functions, treasury management, human resource, marketing, and sales. Ken’s background includes several industries such as product development, membership-driven businesses, private equity, and venture capital. Ken also gained exposure to a multitude of diverse B2B and B2C product-led companies through his experience advising start-up hardware companies.
Ken has a degree in Political Economy from Juniata College he lives in Cherry Hill, New Jersey with his wife Breanne and their 4 children Max, Alex, Jesica and Zachary. He enjoys reading, spending time at the beach and attending his kids’ multitude of events.
Lindsey Link, Financial Operations Manager
Lindsey has over 12 years of experience in accounting, finance, and payroll. She has worked in the finance departments for top hotel brands The Four Seasons, Hilton and IHG. In addition to the hospitality industry, she has also worked in the cable industry supporting month end close, financial reporting multi-state payrolls, accounts payable, budgeting and 401K audits.
Lindsey holds a Bachelor of Science in Tourism and Hospitality Management from Temple University. She lives in Montgomery County, PA with her husband Dave and sons James and Marty. She enjoys reading, riding her Peloton, cooking, and going to the shore.
Michael Pyles, Staff Accountant
Michael Pyles is an accomplished accountant with over 25 years’ experience in accounting.
He has worked in numerous industries such as software development, retail, service, and non-profit.
He has vast experience in accounting with month-end close, financial statement preparation, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
He holds a Bachelor's degree in Business from “The University of South Carolina” and a Masters’ degree in Business from Penn State University.
When he is not working, he enjoys playing the guitar, working out, wine tasting and reading.
Maria Jaryi, Staff Accountant
Maria Jaryi has 6 years of experience working in and handling full cycle accounting systems for various organizations. She has experience working in public relations, lobbying, and health care services in multi-entity organizations. As well as this, she has also worked in retail, service and nonprofit industries. She is well versed in all aspects of financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and supporting month end close.
Maria holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Pennsylvania State University. She currently resides in Philadelphia, PA. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, cooking, spending time with family and traveling.
Carla Wilson, Client Success Manager
Carla has been working with New Direction Capital since 2006 as Executive Assistant to Mike Breeze. Prior to working with New Direction Capital, she spent 20 years helping manage the businesses of entrepreneurs in the Sales & Marketing, Security, Finance and Real Estate industries. She is a Certified Virtual Assistant™ and Past President of the International Virtual Assistants Association.
Carla enjoys yoga and cooking. She hosts a monthly storytelling event called Lancaster Story Slam and loves producing its podcast. She lives in beautiful Lancaster County, PA, with her husband, David.
Sibley Taborda, Client Administrative Coordinator
Sibley has over 5 years of experience working in HR handling performance management, benefits administration, full employee life cycle needs and successful HRIS technology administration. She has experience in the healthcare and cable industry and is skilled at working with cross-functional teams in ensuring operational and service excellence.
Sibley holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Rutgers University and currently resides in Princeton, NJ. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, spending time with family, and painting.
